ABOUT ME
I
am Camilla Baker, I have worked as a professional chef for over
eighteen years. My interest in cooking originally began as a teenager,
helping my parents run a bed-and-breakfast in the southern Australian
state of Tasmania.
After training in Tasmania—and winning Apprentice of the
Year in 1994 - I worked my way up the east coast of Australia from
Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast, increasing my knowledge of food
in a variety of establishments from fine dining restaurants to casual
cafés including the Sheraton Noosa Resort, Marchetti’s
Tuscan Grill, and Zest in Food.
Since 1997 I have traveled the world, living and working in London
and Edinburgh in the U.K., Florence in Italy, and Chicago in the
United States. My CV includes stints in Terence Conran’s Great
Eastern Hotel in London (now called Andaz) as well as Campagnola
and Union Pizzeria in Chicago. I have also visited countries across
Europe, Southeast Asia and North Africa, submerging myself in different
cultures and food preparation—tasting and learning the art
of authentic home cookery across the globe.
In December 2009, I returned to Australia, where I now live in
Sydney with my husband and two young sons. I have co-authored a
book of family meals, Family of Foodies, with U.S-based author Jessie
Knadler. We are currently under representation with Don Condon Associates,
a literary agency in New York. I regularly write about food and
cooking for families in my blog. My published recipes are at www.kerrygold.com/usa,
www.kidspot.com.au
and www.yourkids.com.au.
